Our Vascular and Endovascular Surgery Division at Rhode Island Hospital treats:

• Aneurysm (abdominal, thoracic, peripheral)

• Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD) 
• Critical Limb Ischemia (CLI) 
• Chronic Venous Insufficiency (CVI) 
• Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT)

• Arteriovenous Malformations (AVM) 
• Atherosclerosis and vascular hypertension 
• Nonhealing wounds related to poor circulation

Treatment and Procedures

Procedures include:

• Abdominal aortic aneurysm stenting
• Bypass surgery (traditional)
• Carotid stenting
• Endarterectomy
• Peripheral arterial intervention, including angioplasty, stenting, and laser atherectomy
• Treatment for chronic nonhealing wounds due to poor circulation

Venous system care, including:

• Ablation
• Arteriovenous malformations
• Phlebitis
• Sclerotherapy
• Varicose veins

Seek vascular care when you have:

• Leg pain or cramping that improves with rest (claudication).
• Weakness or numbness on one side of the body.
• Pulsating mass in the abdomen.
• Slow-healing or nonhealing wounds, particularly of the feet. 
• Family history of any aneurysm, excluding brain aneurysms. 
• Difficulty walking.
• Bulging or discolored veins (varicose veins).

Many vascular conditions have no symptoms until advanced — screening is key.
