Visitation Guidelines at Hasbro Children's

Part of the Team

As always at Hasbro Children’s, patient caregivers (parents, guardians, medical-decision makers) are part of the healthcare team and are not considered visitors.

Information for Your Visit

We know that having a child in the hospital can be stressful, and staying connected is an important part of care. Whether you're visiting your child, supporting a loved one, or coming for a procedure, we're here to help. Select the area you'll be visiting below for specific visitor guidelines, caregiver information, and visiting hours.

Inpatient Units
  • For patients under age 18, two designated caregivers, such as parents, guardians, or other approved decision-makers, may be with the child throughout the hospital stay. Caregivers are identified at admission and may remain at the bedside at any time.
  • For patients age 18 and older, two designated caregivers or support persons may be at the bedside. One caregiver or support person age 18 or older may stay overnight.
  • Visiting hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Up to four individuals age 16 or older may be at the bedside at one time, including up to two caregivers and two additional visitors.
  • Family visiting hours are 3 to 8 p.m. During this time, visitors under age 16 are welcome. Up to four visitors under 16 may visit at one time, accompanied by up to two adults. For everyone's safety, visitors under 16 must be supervised by an adult throughout their visit.
Surgery and Recovery Areas
  • Up to two caregivers age 18 or older may accompany a patient into the perioperative area.
  • Two primary caregivers may stay with their child in the preoperative holding area and operating room waiting area.
  • One primary caregiver aged 18 or older may visit in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) while their child is recovering.
Selya 6/Behavioral Health Unit
  • Visitors age 18 and older are welcome by appointment.
  • If you would like additional family time, please speak with your care team to discuss available options.

Masking and Visitor Health

Masks are recommended during patient care at all Brown University Health facilities. Please be prepared to wear a mask at the request of the care team.

Please wash or sanitize your hands before entering the hospital, before/after eating, using the assigned restroom, and upon exiting and entering the patient’s room.

Please note: If a caregiver/visitor has symptoms of a communicable illness, they may not be allowed to enter the hospital. Caregivers and visitors may be required to wear masks, at the discretion of the care team.
