Search results will first present, in alphabetical order, physicians employed or contracted with Brown University Health or its affiliates, followed by an alphabetical listing of physicians who are in Brown University Health’s network of affiliated providers. At the end of that initial list, you can access an alphabetical listing of community physicians with privileges at Brown University Health hospitals. All physicians in Find a Doctor have the opportunity to have a picture or video posted on the site. Neither the order of physicians, nor the presence or absence of a photo or video, in Find a Doctor is intended to reflect any preference, priority, or recommendation by Brown University Health. Find a Doctor search results are also not based on the volume or value of referrals to Brown University Health or its affiliates from any listed physician. Users are free to select their physician of choice from among all Brown University Health-affiliated medical staff physicians.

http://www.cviri.orgAfshin Ehsan, MD, is a cardiothoracic surgeon, director of minimally invasive cardiac surgery and director of quality at the Brown University Health Cardiovascular Institute. He is a professor of surgery at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. His research interests include the role of steroid hormone receptors in vein graft failure; glucose control in cardiac surgery patients; gene therapy for the treatment of cardiovascular disease and genetic engineering of bio-prosthetic grafts.
Dr. Ehsan earned his medical degree from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, California, and completed his residency and post doctoral training at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School in Boston. He also holds an MBA from The Heller School for Social Policy and Management at Brandeis University.
Dr. Ehsan previously served as surgical director of the heart failure and transplant program and director of the cardiothoracic surgery intensive care unit at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts. He is a member of the American Association for Thoracic Surgery, the American College of Surgeons, and the American Heart Association.
