Search results will first present, in alphabetical order, physicians employed or contracted with Brown University Health or its affiliates, followed by an alphabetical listing of physicians who are in Brown University Health’s network of affiliated providers. At the end of that initial list, you can access an alphabetical listing of community physicians with privileges at Brown University Health hospitals. All physicians in Find a Doctor have the opportunity to have a picture or video posted on the site. Neither the order of physicians, nor the presence or absence of a photo or video, in Find a Doctor is intended to reflect any preference, priority, or recommendation by Brown University Health. Find a Doctor search results are also not based on the volume or value of referrals to Brown University Health or its affiliates from any listed physician. Emily Ortega Goddard, MD
Bariatric Surgeon
Emily Ortega Goddard, MD is a surgeon at Brown University Health’s Center for Bariatric Surgery and an assistant professor of surgery at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. She specializes in minimally invasive surgery and is certified in endoscopic, laparoscopic, and robotic surgery.
Dr. Goddard earned her medical degree from the Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia and completed a residency in general surgery at WellSpan York Hospital in York, Pennsylvania. She then went on to finish her fellowship in minimally invasive and bariatric surgery at Brown University.
Her surgical interests include surgical endoscopy, complex hernia repair, bariatrics, and foregut surgery. She loves to teach and believes that training the next generation of surgeons is of the utmost importance.
Dr. Goddard has presented at numerous conferences and collaborated on medical research published in academic journals.
She is a member of the American College of Surgeons, the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, and The American Foregut Society.
Dr. Goddard is certified in Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support by the American Heart Association and in Advanced Trauma Life Support by the American College of Surgeons.
