What is the most common cancer of the head and neck?

Nearly four percent of all cancers in the United States are head and neck cancers. The most common types are cancers of the mouth, throat, or voice box. Is head and neck cancer the same as oral cancer?

Oral cavity and oropharyngeal is one type of head and neck cancer. Brown University Health’s head and neck cancer specialists also treat the other types: nasal cavity and paranasal sinus cancer, salivary gland cancer, laryngeal and hypopharyngeal cancer, and nasopharyngeal cancer.
