Geriatric Rehab: Evidence, Empathy, and Engagement

Overview

Join experts from Brown University Health Rehabilitation Services at our upcoming conference on advancing geriatric rehabilitation. This course will provide healthcare professionals with holistic, evidence-based strategies that address the complex needs of the aging population. The conference will highlight practical assessments and interventions.  An interprofessional panel of speakers will share insights and tools to support comprehensive, patient-centered rehabilitation. Participants will receive a certificate of attendance for six contact hours. Approval by the Rhode Island American Physical Therapy Association (RI APTA) for continuing education units (CEUs) is pending.

Conference Objectives

At the conclusion of this conference, attendees will be able to:

  1. Describe the complex medical, physical, psychosocial, cognitive, and environmental factors that influence rehabilitation planning and service delivery for the geriatric population.
  2. Identify and integrate strategies related to nutrition, oral health, communication, and physical activity into therapy interventions to support overall well-being, functional independence, and quality of life in the aging population.
  3. Demonstrate appropriate screening techniques and evidence-based interventions for managing vestibular dysfunction in the geriatric population to reduce fall risk and improve balance.
  4. Implement evidence-based strategies to optimize functional capacity, address age-related changes, preserve cognitive and physical function, and support active, healthy aging.
  5. Integrate interdisciplinary approaches to support safe, functional independence across care transitions, leveraging community resources, technology, and patient-centered planning.

The cost of registration will increase for all participants by $25 on February 23, 2026.

Cancellations and Refunds

In case of cancellation, an email notification will be required to process your refund. A cancellation fee of $40 will be deducted from your refund. No refunds will be issued after February 27, 2026.
