We are excited to share that Saint Anne’s and Morton hospitals are now part of Lifespan – a not-for-profit integrated health system based in Providence, Rhode Island. We know you may have questions about how this change will impact your care now and in the future. Your health and wellbeing are our highest priority, and we are working to ensure that this transition is as seamless for you as possible.
First, and most importantly, please know that we are here to provide you with excellent, safe, high-quality healthcare. With this change in ownership, you should still show up for scheduled appointments and contact your physicians and care teams as you normally would, as well as seek emergency healthcare services when you need it. Both Saint Anne’s and Morton hospitals are open 24/7 to serve you and your loved ones.
Now and in the coming weeks, you may notice some changes, including:
- Temporary signage at Saint Anne’s and Morton hospitals that includes the new brand of each hospital;
- A new online look for Saint Anne’s and Morton hospitals’ homepages, which can be found at Lifespan.org. You will be automatically redirected to the new landing pages if you visit the old websites for Saint Anne’s and Morton hospitals;
- And Lifespan branding on Saint Anne’s and Morton hospitals’ patient portals and social media pages, and posts with helpful information and updates about the transition.
Lifespan and local leadership at both hospitals have already been working together to best care for you. We are starting to learn about what we can do immediately and in the long term to support the staff, doctors, nurses, clinicians, patients and communities at Saint Anne’s and Morton hospitals. During this interim period, our hope is to continue learning together and to make the transition easy for everyone. We are especially focused on stabilizing clinical programs, continuing to deliver outstanding patient care, and facilitating a smooth integration as both organizations become critical members of the Lifespan family.
For those who are not familiar with who we are, Lifespan is comprised of:
- Rhode Island Hospital – an academic medical center – and its Hasbro Children’s Hospital;
- The Miriam Hospital;
- Bradley Hospital, the nation’s first psychiatric hospital for children;
- Newport Hospital, a community hospital offering a broad range of health services;
- Gateway Healthcare, the state’s largest provider of community behavioral health care;
- Lifespan Physician Group, the largest multi-specialty practice in Rhode Island;
- Coastal Medical, a primary care driven medical practice.
We have a shared vision to build a non-profit regional healthcare organization focused on eliminating health disparities and ensuring access to care for all. Together, we will create a thriving healthcare system that does these three things: benefits patients in both Massachusetts and Rhode Island; reinvests back into its hospitals and its people; and serves as an economic driver for the cities and towns we care for.
In the coming weeks, we will keep you updated on our progress and make you aware of any changes that may alter how you access your information or our services. Thank you for trusting us with your health – it is an honor to serve you.
Kind regards,
John Fernandez, President and CEO, Lifespan
