Lifespan, Rhode Island's largest health system, announces its plans to participate in a virtual net metering project that will provide bill credits for supporting a shared solar array.

Under the virtual net metering system, solar developers build, own, and operate solar energy generation facilities that feed clean energy to the local utility grid. Lifespan will subscribe to a shared solar array and will receive monthly bill credits for its share of the electricity produced and sent to the local electrical grid. Lifespan will begin receiving credits in 2024.

Lifespan is the largest healthcare provider in Rhode Island, Lifespan recognizes the importance of clean energy practices in promoting community health.  Lifespan is taking this step to reduce its environmental impact and strengthen its commitment to sustainability.
