Álvaro Gamio Cuervo, PhD, MSW (they/he) is a suicide research T32 postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. Dr. Gamio Cuervo is working as a postdoctoral research associate on a project delivering evidence-based parenting skills to parents of adolescents.
Dr. Gamio Cuervo received a masters degree in clinical social work from Columbia University and doctoral degree in counseling psychology from the University of Massachusetts Boston, upon completing residency at Boston Medical Center and Boston University School of Medicine.
Dr. Gamio Cuervo’s research includes examining the interconnected nature of trauma outcomes and suicidal thoughts and behaviors, with a particular focus among adolescents and young adults.
