Samuel Meisel, PhD, is a psychologist with the Vista program at Bradley Hospital.
Dr. Meisel received his doctorate in clinical psychology from the University at Buffalo, the State University of New York, in 2020. He completed his clinical residency at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. His research seeks to understand better how adolescents' relationships with their friends and parents relate to adolescent substance use behaviors and treatment outcomes. He is particularly interested in understanding how to help adolescents in substance use treatment decrease their time with peers who support substance use and increase their time with peers who support recovery. By exploring teenagers' relationships with their friends and parents during substance use treatment, Dr. Meisel hopes to refine and strengthen substance use interventions to address better these social processes that impact treatment outcomes.
Alongside his research, Dr. Meisel is passionate about working with families with adolescents who struggle with substance use and have co-occurring mental health diagnoses.
