Alvin Marcovici, MD

Alvin Marcovici, MD, MBA, brings more than 20 years of experience to Brown University Health, Saint Anne’s Hospital that includes expanding comprehensive brain and spine care and co founding the integrated Brain and Spine Center while affiliated with Southcoast Health. In addition to his clinical work, he has held key leadership roles overseeing a large physician group, helping shape system-wide strategy, improving clinical operations, and advancing policies that support safe and effective patient care. At Hawthorn Medical Associates, he introduced advanced neurosurgical services and helped establish its integrated musculoskeletal center.

Dr. Marcovici obtained his medical degree at Yale University School of Medicine. He completed his neurosurgical residency at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and a fellowship training in reconstructive spinal surgery at the Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City, with a special emphasis on spinal deformity, including scoliosis. He also earned an Executive MBA focused on medicine and management from The Heller School for Social Policy and Management at Brandeis University.

A member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, American Association of Neurologic Surgeons, and Congress of Neurologic Surgeon, Dr. Marcovici was named among Becker’s Spine Review “50 spine surgeons to know in 2023.” 

Dr. Marcovici is fluent in Spanish and Romanian.
