Urologist

Andrew James Tompkins, MD, a general urologist, works closely with patients to help them understand their treatment options and make informed decisions about their care.

He treats conditions such as enlarged prostate (BPH) and uses advanced, personalized screening methods to assess each patient’s individual risk for prostate cancer. He also treats frequent nighttime urination (nocturia) and provides both treatment and prevention for kidney stones.

Dr. Tompkins uses minimally invasive techniques, including Rezūm therapy, UroLift, iTind, and a range of laser and surgical procedures, allowing care to be tailored to each patient’s needs and goals.

He earned his medical degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine, graduating with honors. Dr. Tompkins completed his urology residency at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, where he was elected to the Sigma Xi scientific honor society. During his fellowship at Brown University, he served as site director for the Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery program.

Dr. Tompkins is board certified and a diplomate of the American Board of Urology. He is an assistant professor of surgery (urology) at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University and serves as the urology residency site director at the Providence VA Medical Center.
