Andrew Kopecky, MD, PhD

Radiation Oncologist

Andrew Kopecky, MD, PhD, is a radiation oncologist with Brown University Health Cancer Institute’s radiation oncology department.

He earned a medical degree from Albany Medical College, New York, where he completed an internship in preliminary medicine. Dr. Kopecky pursued his residency in radiation oncology at Tufts University Hospital, Boston, and served as chief resident.

Dr. Kopecky was a participant in the 2021 ASTRO-AstraZeneca Radiation Oncology Research Training Fellowship. During that time, he researched the role of AI in detecting incidental pulmonary nodules, safety and outcomes of SBRT in patients on osimertinib, and the use of ctDNA for monitoring locally advanced lung cancer. He also contributed to medical affairs by advising on lung cancer research, designing educational programs for industry professionals, and supporting guideline development.

Among Dr. Kopecky’s professional memberships are the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO), American Board of Radiology, and the Association of Residents in Radiation Oncology. He has presented at numerous conferences and collaborated on medical research published in academic journals.

Prior to his medical studies and training, Dr. Kopecky earned a doctoral degree in organic chemistry from Rutgers University, New Jersey.
