“Find a Doctor” is operated by Brown University Health and includes all physicians who are on the medical staffs of Brown University Health-affiliated hospitals, without any charge to them. Selection is based upon your needs and preferences. Search results will first present, in alphabetical order, physicians employed or contracted with Brown University Health or its affiliates, followed by an alphabetical listing of physicians who are in Brown University Health’s network of affiliated providers. At the end of that initial list, you can access an alphabetical listing of community physicians with privileges at Brown University Health hospitals. All physicians in Find a Doctor have the opportunity to have a picture or video posted on the site. Neither the order of physicians, nor the presence or absence of a photo or video, in Find a Doctor is intended to reflect any preference, priority, or recommendation by Brown University Health. Find a Doctor search results are also not based on the volume or value of referrals to Brown University Health or its affiliates from any listed physician. Users are free to select their physician of choice from among all Brown University Health-affiliated medical staff physicians.

Bharat Ramratnam, MD, is senior vice president of research for Brown University Health, the Warren Alpert Foundation Professor of Medicine at Brown University, and an attending physician at Rhode Island and The Miriam hospitals. Dr. Ramratnam is also co-chief scientific officer of the Brown Innovation and Research Collaborative for Health (BIRCH).

Dr. Ramratnam completed undergraduate and medical education at Brown University. Following residency and chief residency at Brown, he completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Aaron Diamond AIDS Research Center, the Rockefeller University in the clinical scholars program, and is now the head of the laboratory of retrovirology for the division of infectious diseases in the department of medicine at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. 

Dr. Ramratnam has received numerous awards including the US National Institutes of Health (NIH) career development award, the Doris Duke Clinical Scientist Award, the Daland Fellowship in clinical investigation from the American Philosophical Society, and the Culpepper Award from the Rockefeller Brothers Fund. Locally, he has received the Bruce Selya Award from Brown University Health for research excellence, and the Dean’s Excellence Award in teaching from The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University.
