Charles W. Kanaly, MD

Chief of Neurosurgery, Saint Anne’s Hospital

Charles Kanaly, MD, FAANS, FCNS, is the director of The Spine Center at Saint Anne’s Hospital and chief of neurosurgery at Saint Anne’s Hospital. He is a board certified neurosurgeon who specializes in robotic and minimally invasive spine surgery. He is an active member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS) and the Congress of Neurological Surgeons (CNS).

Dr. Kanaly is a faculty member of the Department of Neurosurgery at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. He earned his undergraduate degree from Harvard University, medical degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine and completed his general surgery internship and neurosurgery residency at Duke University.

Dr. Kanaly has been an active member of the Saint Anne’s Hospital medical staff since 2013. He founded the Interdisciplinary Spine Center at Saint Anne’s Hospital in 2016 and under his leadership, the center has since achieved numerous national certifications. He is committed to optimizing patient outcomes and providing the most advanced spinal care. He performed the first robotic spine surgery in the region and remains one of the most experienced in the country. He has performed well over 1,000 robotic spine surgeries at Saint Anne’s Hospital since 2017.
