Conner James Black, PhD

Psychologist

Conner James Black, PhD, is a staff psychologist at the Center for Autism and Developmental Disability Inpatient Unit at Bradley Hospital and a clinical instructor in the department of psychiatry and human behavior at Brown University.

He has extensive experience diagnosing and treating neurodivergent individuals, particularly those with numerous risk factors and high behavioral acuity. 

Dr. Black’s research focuses on the study of anxiety development in neurodivergent groups, especially children with Fragile X syndrome. Recently, his research has explored ways to enhance the hospital experience for autistic patients in general medical settings.

He earned a doctoral degree in psychology from the University of South Carolina and completed a residency at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Ohio and a fellowship in intellectual and developmental disabilities at Weill Cornell Medicine in New York City.
