David D. Yuh, MD, FACS, is a board-certified cardiovascular surgeon with the Brown University Health Cardiovascular Institute

Dr. Yuh earned both his undergraduate and medical degrees from Stanford University and completed residencies in general surgery and cardiothoracic surgery at the Stanford University Medical Center, serving as chief resident in both programs.  His professional academic career began at the Johns Hopkins Hospital from 2001 to 2011, where he was appointed associate professor of surgery and held a joint appointment with the Johns Hopkins University Whiting School of Engineering.  Dr. Yuh was then recruited by the Yale University School of Medicine to become professor and chief of the section of cardiac surgery, surgical director of the Yale-New Haven Hospital Heart and Vascular Center, and Thoracic Surgical Residency Program director from 2011 to 2016.  Dr. Yuh most recently served as clinical professor of surgery and chairman of the department of surgery at Stamford Hospital/Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons from 2016 to 2025.

Dr. Yuh has received repeated recognition as one of Castle Connolly’s Top Doctors and inclusion among America’s Most Honored Professionals – Top 1%.  He has served on the editorial board of The Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, is a voting member of the Circulatory Systems Devices Advisory Panel at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and is lead editor of The Johns Hopkins Textbook of Cardiothoracic Surgery.  Dr. Yuh holds longstanding memberships in the American Association for Thoracic Surgery, Society of Thoracic Surgeons, and American College of Cardiology.

Dr. Yuh has clinical interests in less invasive approaches to mitral valve disease and mechanical circulatory support for end-stage heart failure.
