Hayley S. Goldbach, MD

Dermatologist

Hayley Goldbach, MD, is a dermatologist with Brown Health Medical Group Dermatology. She is a specialist in Mohs micrographic surgery, dermatologic surgery, dermatologic oncology, and cosmetic dermatology. Dr. Goldbach has performed thousands of Mohs surgeries and has particular expertise in complex surgical reconstruction. She is ACGME fellowship-trained and double board–certified in dermatology and micrographic dermatologic surgery. In addition, Dr. Goldbach serves as an assistant professor of dermatology and clinician educator at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University.

She earned a medical degree from the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania as a recipient of the merit-based 21st Century Scholars and Walter Lewis Croll Scholarships. Dr. Goldbach completed an internship at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and a dermatology residency at the University of California, Los Angeles, where she conducted surgical research and received funding from the UCLA Dermatology Research and Education Fund. She then completed an ACGME-accredited fellowship in Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Dermatologic Oncology at the University of California, Irvine.

Dr. Goldbach has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications in leading medical journals, including the New England Journal of Medicine and JAMA Dermatology. Her research has also been featured in The New York Times.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Goldbach is an experienced medical journalist. Her writing has appeared on NBCNews.com, in World Health Organization public health materials, and in international publications across Southeast Asia. Her photography has been published by NPR and the WHO. She has been cited as a medical expert by Forbes, The Washington Post, The New York Times Wirecutter, Vogue, Real Simple, New York Magazine, The Guardian, and others. Prior to medical training, she spent nine years as a reporter for NPR’s “From the Top.”

Dr. Goldbach has a strong commitment to global health and has worked in Malawi, Botswana, Haiti, India, and Laos. She was awarded a Global Health and Media Fellowship from Stanford University and NBC News.

She is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD), the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS), the American College of Mohs Surgery (ACMS), and the Women’s Dermatologic Society (WDS).
