Selection is based upon your needs and preferences. Search results will first present, in alphabetical order, physicians employed or contracted with Brown University Health or its affiliates, followed by an alphabetical listing of physicians who are in Brown University Health’s network of affiliated providers. At the end of that initial list, you can access an alphabetical listing of community physicians with privileges at Brown University Health hospitals. All physicians in Find a Doctor have the opportunity to have a picture or video posted on the site. Neither the order of physicians, nor the presence or absence of a photo or video, in Find a Doctor is intended to reflect any preference, priority, or recommendation by Brown University Health. Find a Doctor search results are also not based on the volume or value of referrals to Brown University Health or its affiliates from any listed physician. Users are free to select their physician of choice from among all Brown University Health-affiliated medical staff physicians.
James Appleton, DPM, FACFAS
James Appleton, DPM, FACFAS, is a board-certified podiatrist and a partner of the Rhode Island Foot Care team. He currently sees patients at the practice's locations in North Providence and Newport, as well as the Rhode Island Hospital Center for Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine and the Vanderbilt Wound Care Center at Newport Hospital.
Dr. Appleton received his medical degree from the New York College of Podiatric Medicine. He completed his podiatric medical and surgical residency at Roger Williams Medical Center. The program has an emphasis on forefoot and rearfoot reconstruction, diabetic wound care, and limb salvage. He trained under many podiatrists and orthopedic surgeons during this program and served as the chief resident in his final year of training.
Dr. Appleton is active with surgical residency training and is a member of the academic training committee associated with the Roger Williams Medical Center residency program. He takes a personal approach with each patient, providing care and treatment in a comfortable and friendly setting.
