Physiatrist

Joshua M. Smith, MD, is a physiatrist with Brown Health Medical Group Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation who provides comprehensive care to patients with a wide range of diagnoses, including osteoarthritis, stroke, spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, spasticity, and various musculoskeletal issues. He also performs ultrasound guided and electrodiagnostic procedures. As a physiatrist, he utilizes a widespread approach to patient management, which focuses on utilizing a holistic view to improve patient function.

Dr. Smith earned a bachelor’s degree in integrative neuroscience from Binghamton University and a medical degree from Albany Medical College in New York. Dr. Smith completed a residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the University of Rochester Medical Center, where he served as chief resident. He is an active member of the Association of Academic Physiatrists and the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

Dr. Smith focuses his practice in teaching and guiding patients through their health concerns, offering an empathetic and non-judgmental approach to help patients navigate health issues.
