Julia Loup, PhD

Clinical Psychologist

Julia Loup is a clinical psychologist with Brown University Health’s Geriatric Psychiatry Program and an attending staff member with the consultation liaison team at The Miriam Hospital. Her primary specialties are in the fields of geropsychology and health psychology. She is experienced in providing individual, group, and family therapy with older adult patients and their loved ones focused on coping with serious and chronic illnesses, aging related changes, end of life discussions, and neurocognitive changes or concerns.

Dr. Loup earned her master’s and doctorate degree in clinical psychology with a concentration in geropsychology from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. She completed her psychology residency and internship at The Warren Alpert Brown Medical School of Brown University with a concentration in behavioral medicine. Dr. Loup further completed a clinical health psychology postdoctoral fellowship with the Yale School of Medicine and Connecticut VA Healthcare System’s Center of Education in Interprofessional Primary Care Education.

She is a member of the American Psychological Association and the Gerontological Society of America.
