Kathryn R. DeCarli, MD

Medical Oncologist and Palliative Care Physician

Kathryn DeCarli, MD, MBE, is a board-certified medical oncologist and palliative care physician who specializes in treating head and neck cancer at the Brown University Health Cancer Institute. In addition, she is an assistant professor of medicine at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University.

Dr. DeCarli has collaborated on research published in peer-reviewed academic journals, written book chapters, and spoken at medical conferences. Her academic interests include delivery of patient-centered symptom management and support in complex medical decision-making for patients living with cancer.

She received a medical degree from the UMass Chan Medical School and a master’s degree in bioethics from the UPenn Perelman School of Medicine. Dr. DeCarli completed an internal medicine residency and served as a chief resident at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. She then completed fellowships in medical oncology as well as hospice and palliative medicine.

Dr. DeCarli is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine, and the Alliance for Support and Prevention of Immune-Related Adverse Events.
