At the end of that initial list, you can access an alphabetical listing of community physicians with privileges at Brown University Health hospitals. All physicians in Find a Doctor have the opportunity to have a picture or video posted on the site. Neither the order of physicians, nor the presence or absence of a photo or video, in Find a Doctor is intended to reflect any preference, priority, or recommendation by Brown University Health. Find a Doctor search results are also not based on the volume or value of referrals to Brown University Health or its affiliates from any listed physician. Madeleine Streit Higgins, MD
Madeleine Higgins, MD, is a board-certified minimally invasive surgeon who specializes in laparoscopic and endoscopic treatment of disorders of the upper gastrointestinal tract, with a special interest in weight loss/bariatric surgery.
She graduated from medical school from Tufts University School of Medicine, followed by General Surgery residency at The Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, NY. She then obtained further fellowship training in advanced GI/MIS at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she received extensive training in bariatric and foregut surgery, before joining Morton Hospital.
Dr. Higgins specializes in the treatment of disorders of the upper gastrointestinal tract such as reflux (GERD), hiatal and para-esophageal hernias, achalasia, as well as weight loss/bariatric surgery, and endoscopic procedures. She is committed to care of the whole patient and will work with her patients to establish the correct diagnosis and treatment plan.
Dr. Higgins is a member of the American Medical Association, the American College of Surgeons, the Association of Women Surgeons, and the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons.
