Matthew A. Kippe, MD

Matthew Kippe, MD, is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with Hawthorn Medical Associates and the co-clinical director of orthopedic surgery at Saint Anne’s Hospital. He specializes in sports medicine, shoulder, elbow, and knee disorders, arthroscopic shoulder and knee surgery, shoulder replacement and reverse total shoulder replacement, and ACL reconstruction and knee preservation surgery.

Dr. Kippe has collaborated on peer-reviewed research published in academic journals, presented at conferences, and written chapters for medical books. He is a peer reviewer for the Journal of American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.

Outside of his work at Saint Anne’s Hospital, Dr. Kippe is a team physician at the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth, and a team physician for BMC Durfee High School in Fall River, and Dartmouth High School, both in Massachusetts.

He received a medical degree from the Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston. Dr. Kippe completed an orthopedic surgery residency at Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan, where he served as chief resident, and completed the Charles S. Neer Shoulder Fellowship and Columbia University in New York.

He is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and member of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine Member, the Arthroscopy Association of North America, and the American Shoulder and Elbow Society.
