Selection is based upon your needs and preferences. Search results will first present, in alphabetical order, physicians employed or contracted with Brown University Health or its affiliates, followed by an alphabetical listing of physicians who are in Brown University Health’s network of affiliated providers. At the end of that initial list, you can access an alphabetical listing of community physicians with privileges at Brown University Health hospitals. All physicians in Find a Doctor have the opportunity to have a picture or video posted on the site. Neither the order of physicians, nor the presence or absence of a photo or video, in Find a Doctor is intended to reflect any preference, priority, or recommendation by Brown University Health. Find a Doctor search results are also not based on the volume or value of referrals to Brown University Health or its affiliates from any listed physician. Oliver Wisco, DO, is dual board-certified in dermatology and micrographic surgery and dermatologic oncology, and is a skin cancer specialist and researcher in the Brown Health Medical Group Dermatology. He specializes in healthcare performance improvement and the risk factors for skin cancer and advanced melanoma. Additionally, he is an associate professor of dermatology and clinician educator in Brown University’s health informatics program and an adjunct associate professor of dermatology at the F. Edward Hébert School of Medicine at the Uniformed Services University. Beyond his academic roles, much of Dr. Wisco’s time is focused on providing care for underserved and high-risk patients in rural settings.
Dr. Wisco’s research interest is in understanding the risk factors that lead to high-risk skin cancer and advanced melanoma to find ways to improve care processes and promote health. He is dedicated to exploring methods to integrate patients, clinicians, health systems, and city governments to drive the creation of healthy sustainable communities.
Much of Dr. Wisco’s medical career has been in the military, where he served over 20 years in the US Air Force and retired at the rank of Colonel.
Dr. Wisco earned his medical degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He then completed internship at the David Grant Medical Center/University of California, Davis Medical System, a dermatology residency at the Wilford Hall Medical Center in Texas, a Mohs micrographic surgery fellowship at Mystic Valley Dermatology in Massachusetts, and a melanoma clinical research fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital's the Wellman Center for Photomedicine and Harvard Medical School. His Mohs micrographic surgery fellowship was spent studying under Donald Grande, MD, the first Mohs surgeon in Boston.
Dr. Wisco is a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, a diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology, and a fellow of the American College of Mohs Surgery.
