Prachi Hemant Bhuptani, PhD

Clinical Psychologist

Prachi H. Bhuptani, PhD, is a clinical psychologist specializing in addiction medicine with Brown University Health’s Recovery Center. When she is not helping patients at the Recovery Center, Dr. Bhuptani is a consulting editor for Psychology of Violence and a researcher at Brown University.

She conducts research on the impact of stigma and shame on sexual assault recovery, as well as how to help those with substance use disorder and trauma recover from addiction. She has experience in conducting research focused on intervention development and evaluation, as well as research involving qualitative and ecological momentary assessment.

Dr. Bhuptani has presented at numerous conferences and collaborated on medical research published in peer-reviewed academic journals.

She earned master’s and doctorate degrees in clinical psychology from the Miami University of Ohio. She completed an internship in clinical psychology at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University and a postdoctoral fellowship in intervention and prevention of trauma and substance use at Rhode Island Hospital.

Dr. Bhuptani is a member of the American Psychological Association and the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies.
