Steven J. Barreto, PhD, is a psychologist with Brown Health Medical Group. He specializes in pediatric psychology, ADHD, and disruptive behavior disorders. He is a clinical associate professor of psychiatry and human behavior at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University.
Dr. Barreto's clinical interests include family and couple therapy for family adjustment, parenting, and parent-child relationships in the context of child or adult psychiatric illness, chronic and acute illness, life transitions, trauma, anxiety, and mood disorders. His research interests include family therapy, juvenile firesetting, digital citizenship and cyber aggression, and depression in high risk urban communities.
Before joining the Family Therapy Program, he spent 20 years at Bradley Hospital working with families and addressing the needs of children with severe emotional disturbances. He is a member of the American Psychological Association.
