Steven Cobery, MD, is a board-certified neurosurgeon with the Spine Center at Saint Anne's Hospital. His clinical interests include trauma, critical care, and complex spine surgery. 

He has presented at conferences and collaborated on peer reviewed research published in academic journals.

Before joining the Spine Center, Dr. Cobery worked as a staff neurosurgeon with the Southcoast Hospital Group in Fall River, Massachusetts, and a staff neurosurgeon with Neurosurgical Associates at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Virginia. In addition, he spent 28 years as a member of the United States Navy, serving 8 years in submarines and 20 years in medicine, including several deployments, notably treating front line injuries in Afghanistan.

Dr. Cobery received a medical degree from The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. He completed an internship at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland and a neurosurgery residency at Rhode Island Hospital.  

Dr. Cobery’s personal philosophy of care is rooted in honesty and compassion.  These provide the foundation of the relationship between himself and his patients to develop a plan of care that personally fits the individual patient’s needs, even in a highly complex environment such as neurosurgery.
