Behavioral Health Workforce and Professional Development at Bradley Hospital provides a variety of learning opportunities for Bradley Hospital, Gateway Healthcare and Brown University Health School Solutions employees and other behavioral health care professionals in the community. Courses are designed to improve participants’ knowledge and skills, thereby promoting quality patient services through highly competent employees. Program models include live class presentations, role-playing, group discussion, computer-based learning, evidence-based curricula, and satellite conferencing.

Bradley Conference offers a wide range of learning experiences to provide the training that behavioral health care professionals need to stay at the forefront of their fields. Clinical staff from Bradley Hospital lead an ongoing series of conference sessions to provide education for psychologists, social workers, physicians, nurses, certified counselors, speech/language and occupational therapists, teachers, milieu therapists, and other professionals. Topics cover various behavioral health populations and treatment modalities and are intended to provide practical, state-of-the-art information.

The Bradley Hospital and Hasbro Children’s teams provide program consultation and/or professional case consultation to hospitals, agencies and systems.

Bradley Online Learning offers computer-based continuing education for professionals in a variety of disciplines, including physicians, nurses, psychologists, social workers, certified counselors, speech/language and occupational therapists, and teachers. The courses will be available through a computer learning management system complete with a registration and payment portal and post-test function.

The Center for Evidence-Based Practice (CEBP) provides training and technical support in the implementation and sustainability of evidence-based prevention and intervention programs that promote young children’s social, emotional, and academic competence. The CEBP works with early care and education settings, schools, mental health centers, pediatric practices, and other community settings serving high-risk children and families. Technical support involves consulting with agencies and convening implementation teams to select evidence-based programs that are the best fit for their setting, as well as to assess and build organizational readiness and capacity to adopt, implement and sustain selected programs.

Mental Health First Aid is a 8-hour award-winning training program designed to educate individuals on how to help someone in a mental health crisis. This program has proven to increase knowledge, reduce stigma and most importantly increase supportive actions. It even improves the mental health of first-aiders. It does not teach people to be therapists, rather it teaches how to recognize the symptoms of mental health problems, how to provide initial help and how to go about guiding a person to appropriate professional help.
