The breast surgery team cares for patients with all types of breast diseases and focuses on treatments that preserve tissue and restore a woman's natural contour. Our surgeons are nationally recognized experts in breast cancer and have pioneered many of the latest surgical advances in breast cancer treatment. We diagnose and surgically treat a wide range of cancerous, benign, and high-risk breast conditions.
Breast Cancer
The most common condition we treat is breast cancer, and we offer a wide variety of approaches and procedures including:
- Lumpectomy (breast-conserving surgery)
- Mastectomy
- Sentinel lymph node biopsy
- Axillary lymph node dissection

Benign Breast Conditions
These conditions may require biopsy, monitoring, or surgical removal.
- Fibroadenoma – a common benign breast tumor
- Breast Cysts – fluid-filled sacs in the breast
- Fibrocystic Breast Changes – lumpy or painful breast tissue
- Intraductal Papilloma – benign growth in a milk duct
- Fat Necrosis of the Breast – damaged fatty tissue forming a lump
Breast Infections and Inflammation
Conditions we treat include:
- Mastitis – infection of breast tissue (often occurs during breastfeeding)
- Breast Abscess – a pocket of infection that may require drainage
- Granulomatous Mastitis – a rare inflammatory condition
High-Risk and Precancerous Breast Disease
We evaluate and manage conditions that increase the risk of cancer, including:
- Atypical Ductal Hyperplasia
- Atypical Lobular Hyperplasia
- Ductal Carcinoma In Situ (a non-invasive breast cancer)
- They may recommend surgery, surveillance, or preventive strategies.
Breast Symptoms and Diagnostic Evaluation After Imaging
We perform core needle biopsies, surgical biopsies, and tumor removal for conditions such as:
- Breast lumps
- Abnormal mammograms
- Breast pain
- Nipple discharge
- Breast skin changes
