Bradley Hospital’s Expressive Arts Therapies Program provides creative and therapeutic experiences that improve and enhance the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of our patients.
The program is developed and managed by board certified art therapist Melissa Weaver, who works in collaboration with other art therapists, as well as artists from the community who share their time and talents with the children and adolescents at our hospital.
Art therapists are mental health professionals trained in both the creative arts and in psychology and counseling. Supporting expressive arts therapies at Bradley, our Healing Arts Program offers a wide variety of visual arts, writing, performance arts, and musical programs. Together they help children and adolescents:
Explore and express their thoughts and feelings
Cope with traumatic experiences
Become more self-aware
Improve social skills
Increase self-esteem
Better cope with anxiety and conflicts
Decrease feelings of frustration
Increase concentration and focus
Healing the Hearts and Minds of Children
