RISE Clinic for Tuberculosis Treatment
The RISE Clinic provides specialty consultation related to tuberculosis care in partnership with the Rhode Island Department of Health.
Staff members are experienced in tuberculosis care and know how to safely handle contagious patients. This includes treatment for those who have developed tuberculosis and for those persons who have been exposed and are at high risk of developing the disease in the future.
The RISE Clinic treats both pediatric and adult patients.

Though patients whom the clinic treats are infected with tuberculosis, most are not ill from the disease and are not contagious. The treatments provided are critical in order to eliminate the chances that these patients will become ill from the disease or transmit the disease to others.
Clinic outreach workers meet patients who are diagnosed with tuberculosis, escort them to the clinic, and orient them to their treatment program immediately after they are discharged from the hospital.
An outreach worker administers every dose of medication a patient receives. This enables the clinic staff to determine whether a patient is having trouble with medication and to verify that it is being taken correctly.
