The Miriam Hospital has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® for Advanced Total Hip and Knee Replacement Recertification by meeting rigorous performance standards. The Gold Seal is a symbol of quality that reflects a health care organization’s commitment to providing safe and quality patient care. This recertification is the fourth time the Total Joint Center has received this designation.
“This recertification recognizes the ongoing commitment to the highest standards of care and outcomes by all the members of the team at the Total Joint Center. Since its inception in 2012, we have continued to strive for the best outcomes, and focus on state-of-the-art techniques, said John Froelich, MD, program director, The Total Joint Center at The Miriam Hospital. “Patient centered care is at the heart of everything we do to provide a safe and welcoming environment. I view the Total Joint Center as a total care center for every patient who enters our facility.”
The recertification, offered in collaboration with the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, focuses on pre-surgical orthopedic consultations, rehabilitation activities post hospitalization or ambulatory surgical center admission, and follow-up visits with the orthopedic surgeon.
“Advanced Total Hip and Knee Replacement Certification recognizes health care organizations committed to fostering continuous improvement in patient safety and quality of care,” says Deborah Ryan, MS, RN, executive vice president, Accreditation and Certification Operations, The Joint Commission. “We commend The Miriam Hospital for using certification to reduce variation in its clinical processes and to strengthen its program structure and management framework for orthopedic patients.”
“This achievement is yet another milestone in the Total Joint Center’s continued dedication to patient centered care and excellence. I am proud to work alongside an extremely talented group of surgeons, nurses and clinical staff for the safety and well-being of our patients. Continuous dedication and management by staff of the Total Joint Center’s program make it the preferred choice for Rhode Islander’s needing knee and hip replacements” states Maria Ducharme, DNP, president, The Miriam Hospital.
