James “Jamie” Jewett PhD, PMHNP is a board certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner with psychiatric consult liaison Team and the psychiatric emergency department at Rhode Island Hospital.

Dr. Jewett earned his bachelor’s degree from Naropa University, and his undergraduate nursing degree from the University of Connecticut. He holds an MSN-PMHNP degree from the University of Rhode Island, along with a master’s and PhD from Brown University in Providence. Additionally, Dr. Jewett earned an MFA from Ohio State University.

Dr. Jewett has worked across the lifespan with children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients in multiple acute-care inpatient, emergency, and outpatient environments. He offers psychiatric care for culturally diverse patients and provides comprehensive care to patients with mental health disorders, including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, ADHD, PTSD, and addiction. His specific professional interests include working with clients with trauma and those exploring issues of identity, sexuality, or marginalization. He is a trauma-informed and gender-affirming provider, whose work is deeply rooted in thirty years of practice and study of formal mindfulness traditions, yoga, and a prior career as an artist and academic.
