Sarah Schmidhofer, MD

Director, Adult Partial Hospital Program

Sarah Schmidhofer, MD is the director of the Adult Partial Hospital Program at Brown University Health and a staff psychiatrist. She is a psychiatrist with Brown Health Medical Group and a clinical assistant professor of medicine and psychiatry and human behavior at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University.

She completed her medical degree with a concentration in contemplative studies at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. She completed her psychiatry residency, where she served as chief resident, at Brown University, as well. Dr. Schmidhofer was a research fellow at the Mind and Life Research Institute and was named to the Gold Humanism Honors Society. She also received the Lifestyle Medicine faculty scholarship award from Brown University. She was selected to participate in the Brown Physicians Incorporated Leadership Academy in 2025.

Dr. Schmidhofer’s research and clinical interests include the role of yoga, meditation, and mindfulness in medicine and psychiatry, nutritional psychiatry, lifestyle medicine, and working with young adult and LGBTQIA+ populations. She has contributed to both professional publications and book chapters.

Her memberships in professional organizations include the American College of Lifestyle Medicine, International Network of Integrative Mental Health, Same Here Global, the Academic Consortium for Integrative Medicine and Health, and the Integrative Psychiatry Institute.

Dr. Schmidhofer is an ISHTA Yoga master teacher (RYT-500) and has advanced meditation training.
