Selection is based upon your needs and preferences. Search results will first present, in alphabetical order, physicians employed or contracted with Brown University Health or its affiliates, followed by an alphabetical listing of physicians who are in Brown University Health’s network of affiliated providers. At the end of that initial list, you can access an alphabetical listing of community physicians with privileges at Brown University Health hospitals. All physicians in Find a Doctor have the opportunity to have a picture or video posted on the site. Neither the order of physicians, nor the presence or absence of a photo or video, in Find a Doctor is intended to reflect any preference, priority, or recommendation by Brown University Health. Find a Doctor search results are also not based on the volume or value of referrals to Brown University Health or its affiliates from any listed physician. Users are free to select their physician of choice from among all Brown University Health-affiliated medical staff physicians.
Tina M. Burton, MD, MFA
Vascular Neurologist, Comprehensive Stroke Center, Rhode Island Hospital
Tina Burton, MD, MFA, is a vascular neurologist at Rhode Island Hospital’s Comprehensive Stroke Center. In addition, Dr. Burton is an assistant professor of neurology at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, where she is also associate program director for the adult neurology residency program. She is vice chair of clinical operations for the department of neurology and co-manages NIH StrokeNet Rhode Island Hospital Trial Operations.
Prior to her career in medicine, Dr. Burton was a practicing object-based artist in New York. She received a master of fine arts degree at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago before changing her career path. She completed her medical school and neurology residency at the University of Utah and completed her vascular neurology fellowship at the National Institutes of Health National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke. She has been managing the code stroke simulation for neurology residents since 2020 and is interested in expanding opportunities for neurological education for all learners.
