Comprehensive HIV Primary and Specialty Care Clinic

HIV is a chronic condition that can be managed well with treatment and social support. The Miriam Hospital Infectious Diseases and Immunology Clinic (IDIC) provides exceptional care to more than 2,100 people living with HIV in the clinic’s service area, which is about 80% of people living with HIV in Rhode Island.

Care at The Miriam's IDIC is provided by clinicians who are leaders in the field for the recognition, diagnosis, and treatment of HIV and sexually transmitted infections (STIs). They are supported by a team of nurses, social workers, pharmacists, and other medical staff to ensure patients have the resources they need to live well and thrive.

  • Medication assisted treatment with buprenorphine services
  • Health and dental pay assistance
  • Insurance and the AIDS drug assistance program (ADAP) enrollment assistance
  • Emergency food assistance
  • Patient medication assistance program (PMAP)
  • Assistance with transportation to appointments
  • ICARE adherence and retention program
  • On-site linkage to community case management

The IDIC is a major component of the Providence/Boston Center for AIDS Research. It is one of 19 centers located at leading AIDS research institutions nationwide that are focused on exploring new opportunities for HIV/AIDS research through interdisciplinary collaboration and shared resources.
