Discharge

You will usually go home on the second postoperative day.  That is the day after your surgery.  That morning we will check a blood count to make sure there is no significant bleeding and a platelet count.  After lunch you can go home if you feel up to it.

A complete blood count (CBC) with a platelet count will be obtained at frequent intervals after discharge until we are sure the operation has worked and things are stable.  The time frame for these tests will be determined by your hematologist.
