Follow Your Heart Camp Frequently Asked Questions
What is the cost for camp?
There is no cost. Camp is free thanks to generous charitable contributions made by individuals, corporations, and foundations.
Will there be medical staff at camp?
Camp is run under the supervision of pediatric heart doctors, pediatric nurses, and other volunteer staff from the Pediatric Heart Center and Hasbro Children’s.
Which types of activities will my child participate in?
Swimming, canoeing, archery, campfires, heart education, and more.
What is the goal of heart camp?
To provide an environment where kids with heart disease can have fun while learning life skills that will help them navigate the challenges of living with a cardiac condition.
Who is eligible to attend camp?
Most children ages 8 to 15 with congenital heart disease are eligible, especially those who have had surgery.
What will my child need to bring to camp?
A packing list will be provided.
How can I help prepare my child for sleepaway camp?
A practice sleepover at a relative’s or friend’s house is a great way to gain confidence for being away from home.
