Suzanne Phelan, PhD

The Brown University Health Office of Research hosted its 32nd annual Research Day on Friday, November 7, 2025. The event was headlined by a presentation from Suzanne Phelan, PhD, titled, “Lifestyle Interventions for Cardiometabolic Health: From Preconception Through Pregnancy, and Postpartum.” Dr. Phelan is a professor of kinesiology and public health and the director of women’s health at California Polytechnic State University. She completed her postdoctoral fellowship in psychiatry and human behavior at The Miriam Hospital and The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University.

After the keynote address, Sean Monaghan, MD, the 2025 Brown University Health Bruce M. Selya Award in Research Excellence honoree, delivered his presentation titled, “Sepsis and Innovation.” After Dr. Monaghan’s presentation, the program continued with a brief awards ceremony recognizing the 2025 Research Abstract Award recipients, followed by a poster session featuring all abstract presentations.
