Nutrition at Bradley Hospital
At Bradley Hospital, we understand the importance of nutritious meals in supporting your child’s overall health and recovery. Our food and nutrition team is dedicated to providing balanced, kid-friendly meals that meet each patient’s individual needs. Our ingredients are purchased with the best quality and nutrition in mind. Our healthy, variety-filled menu has been designed to reflect the nutritional needs and diverse food preferences of the children, teenagers and young adults who are in our care, and follows USDA dietary guidelines.
Mealtime Schedule
Meals are served daily at the following times:
- Breakfast: 6:30 to 10:30 a.m.
- Lunch: 11:00 a.m. to 2:15 p.m.
- Dinner: Time varies by unit
- Snacks: Available throughout the day and evening
Special Diets and Allergies
Our team provides a variety of special diets including:
- Gluten-free
- Dairy-free
- Lactose-free or lactose-restricted
- Vegetarian
- Vegan
- Kosher
- Reduced-calorie or increased-calorie
- Halal
In addition, we accommodate any religious dietary needs and food allergies and sensitivities.
Teaching Healthy Habits
Bradley’s clinical nutrition staff offers:
- One-on-one nutrition consultations
- Nutrition education groups led by registered dietitians
- Food tastings and demonstrations
These sessions help patients build healthy eating habits that support both physical and emotional well-being.
Making Meals Feel Like Home
Our patients come from a wide range of cultures and backgrounds. We do our best to offer familiar foods that bring comfort, while still meeting nutritional needs. Our food and nutrition team builds relationships with patients to understand their preferences and provide a welcoming mealtime experience.
Bringing in Outside Food
Visitors may bring in food for patients during visits, with some restrictions:
- No nuts, chocolate or shellfish, please – to protect patients with allergies
- All food must be consumed during the visit
- No glass containers or sharp utensils
- Ask your child’s care team for more details before bringing food
