If you have an interest in nurse anesthesia, flight nursing or nurse practitioner training, the ED/ICU clinical nurse role will provide the challenge you are looking for and help you develop the training and skills necessary for these programs of study.

Other Advancement Opportunities Available at The Miriam Hospital

RN to ED RN Program

This program builds upon existing nursing experience to transition to the specialty of emergency nursing, and includes:

  • An individualized orientation plan
  • Weekly classroom didactic supported by a framework in emergency nursing 

ED Observation Unit Program

This program allows for the transition to emergency nursing in the absence of acute care experience, and includes:

  • Individualized orientation to a 10-bed ED observation unit
  • Transition to the RN to ED RN Program 

Newly Licensed ED Nurse Program

Newly licensed nurses with less than six months of acute care experience are hired two times per year.

This program includes:

  • An individualized orientation plan
  • Weekly classroom didactic supported by a framework in emergency nursing
  • Participation in accredited Newly Licensed Nurse Residency Program
