A tradition of superior patient care
The Miriam Hospital Women’s Association Annual Meeting 2019
The Miriam Hospital Women’s Association held its 122nd Annual Meeting, Installation of Officers and 35th Annual Recognition Award in celebration of Sandra Cheng on June 5, 2019 at Ledgemont Country Club.
The Annual Recognition Award was established to honor individuals who have given of themselves to The Miriam Hospital. This year we chose to celebrate someone who was both a hospital executive and volunteer, Sandra Cheng. Sandra was always a guardian angel to our group.
As a lifetime member who held us dear, she would quietly swoop in — whenever we were in need. Behind the scenes, she always ensured that our events had what was needed to be successful and was a supportive liaison between our association and the hospital. Her heartfelt care and guidance will always be remembered.
Those who spoke in celebration of Sandra Cheng included:
- Pastor Nelson Estrada of The Chinese Christian Church of Rhode Island and Jane Song, lifetime member of The Miriam Hospital Women’s Association, who stood together as Jane translated Pastor Estrada’s heartfelt prayer into Chinese in honor of Sandra.
- The Miriam Hospital’s President, Arthur Sampson, and Senior Vice President, Maria Ducharme, who spoke fondly of their time working beside Sandra.
- Jeni Mowry, Manager of Volunteer and Customer Services, who read a poem she composed to share her special memories of Sandra.
- Carl Smith, who presented a lovely custom art piece of 1000 cranes to The Miriam Hospital in recognition of Sandra.
In tribute to Sandra, and knowing she would have loved it, Marie Langlois and Marianne Litwin generously funded the memorable performance by the Nam Pai Lion Dance Team from the Asian American Cultural Center.
The celebration of Sandra Cheng was truly a beautiful event!
