Compassionate, personalized care is the key to successful weight loss. Bariatric surgery at Saint Anne's Hospital includes regular monitoring to ensure you lose weight in a healthy way, and keep it off.

We offer surgical and medical options, as well as nutritional counseling, to help you lose weight and lead a healthier life.

Surgical Options

Our team of surgeons, nurses, dietitians, and behavioral therapists are specially trained in bariatric surgery and weight loss. They will work with you to determine the best procedure for you, while offering support and encouragement along the way.

Bariatric Weight Loss Procedures

Bariatric procedures include:

Gastric Sleeve Surgery

Gastric sleeve surgery involves removing part of the stomach, leading you to feel full from eating less food. This is becoming the most common procedure. It takes approximately 45 minutes, is often done in a community hospital, and typically requires a one-night hospital stay. Patients are back to most activities within a week. Saint Anne’s Hospital is the region's first to offer da Vinci robotic-assisted gastric sleeve bariatric surgery. This advanced technique often results in faster recovery and shorter hospital stay, fewer stitches and less scarring, lower risk of complications and infections, and less blood loss during surgery.

Gastric Bypass Surgery

Gastric bypass surgery involves creating a small pouch from the stomach and connecting the newly created pouch directly to the small intestine.

Non-Surgical Options

If your BMI is between 30 and 35, you may benefit from medical weight loss. For more information, ask your doctor if medical weight loss is an option for you, or call our bariatric program coordinator at 774-400-4688
