Candidates should be patients, former patients or caregivers for patients at the Brown University Health Cancer Institute at Rhode Island Hospital and its program in East Greenwich. Individuals interested in becoming council members must complete a membership application form, interview with the council, sign a Brown University Health confidentiality statement and complete the entire volunteer training process (hyperlink to: volunteer information). The term requires a two-year minimum commitment and a maximum term of four years. Meetings are held monthly.

Any message about your experience in the hospital is forwarded directly to the Patient and Family Advisory Council at the Brown University Health Cancer Institute at Rhode Island Hospital and the hospital leadership team, which includes the hospital president, chief medical officer and chief nursing officer. A patient advocate may contact you directly for follow up. Billing questions are forwarded to Brown University Health's director of patient financial services.
