Lena Gomes, MSN, RN, CMSRN, and Kiana Gomes, RN

For Lena Gomes, nursing began as a calling she felt long before she ever stepped into a hospital. As a child, she imagined a life spent helping others, and by sixteen she was already working as a certified nursing assistant. When she arrived at Saint Anne’s Hospital as a new nurse, she found more than a workplace. She found a home.

Sharing a Milestone Together

“To be part of Saint Anne’s 120‑year journey is incredibly meaningful. What makes it even more special is sharing this milestone with my daughter.”
- Lena Gomes, MSN, RN, CMSRN

“It’s amazing to be part of a hospital that has cared for generations of families. We’re grateful to contribute to that legacy.”
- Kiana Gomes, RN

“Saint Anne’s has always felt like home,” said Gomes. “Supportive peers and dedicated mentors shaped me into the nurse I am today.”

Over the years, Gomes advanced through roles that deepened her commitment to the hospital and its mission. Today, as a clinical manager, she leads with the same compassion that first drew her to nursing. She has weathered blizzards, guided clinical students, and advocated passionately for patients who had no one else. Her leadership reflects the values she learned at Saint Anne’s—community, dignity, and unwavering care.

The Past and Future of Nursing

Her daughter, Kiana, grew up watching it all.

Kiana remembers visiting Saint Anne’s with her father and brother, waiting for her mother to finish a shift, and being greeted by nurses who offered snacks and smiles. Those small gestures stayed with her. “Seeing the care and community around nursing really inspired me,” said Kiana. In 2023, she followed her mother’s path and became a registered nurse.

Working at the same hospital has given their relationship a new dimension. They share stories after long shifts, trade insights across generations, and learn from each other’s strengths. Kiana navigates new technologies with ease, and Lena brings decades of clinical wisdom. Together, they bridge the past and future of nursing.

“Working in the same profession and at the same hospital as my daughter is truly an honor,” said Lena. “Knowing that Kiana is part of this community means the world to me.”

Kiana feels that same pride. She has watched her mother step into leadership with grace, take on assignments during record‑breaking storms, and teach students how to care for the whole patient. “I wish I could be half the nurse she is one day,” said Kiana.

For both women, Saint Anne’s 120th anniversary carries deep meaning – the hospital’s long-standing tradition of caregivers who have served Fall River with dedication and heart.

“To be part of Saint Anne’s 120‑year journey is incredibly meaningful,” said Lena. “What makes it even more special is sharing this milestone with my daughter.”

Kiana agreed, “It’s amazing to be part of a hospital that has cared for generations of families. We’re grateful to contribute to that legacy.”

Two generations, one mission. At Saint Anne’s Hospital, Lena and Kiana continue a story rooted in compassion.
