Visitor Policy Guidelines at Saint Anne's Hospital

Visitors and Support Persons

At Saint Anne’s Hospital, we know that family, friends, and loved ones can play an important role in healing and recovery. We welcome visitors and make every effort to support visitation whenever possible.

Patients and their designated support persons have the right to choose who may visit during their stay, including spouses, domestic partners, family members, and friends. Patients may also choose not to receive visitors or change their preferences at any time. We are committed to honoring each patient’s wishes while helping create a safe, supportive, and healing environment for everyone.

If you need help during your visit, please ask. Our team is happy to provide directions, answer questions, or arrange an escort to your vehicle. We are here to support you and your loved ones throughout your visit.

General Visiting Hours at Saint Anne's Hospital

We welcome family and friends as an important part of the healing process. To help create a safe, comfortable, and restful environment for everyone, we ask visitors to follow these guidelines:

  • We do not have set visiting hours, but we ask all visitors to be respectful of patients, families, and care team members.
  • Please help keep noise to a minimum so patients can rest and recover.
  • If you are feeling sick or have symptoms of a cold, sore throat, or another contagious illness, please wait until you are well before visiting.
  • Quiet hours begin at 8 p.m. to support a healing environment for our patients.
  • Masks are recommended during patient care at all Brown University Health facilities. Please be prepared to wear a mask if requested by a member of your care team.

When Visitors May Be Limited

We believe that support from family and friends is an important part of the healing process. In some situations, however, visitor access may need to be limited to protect the safety, privacy, comfort, or well-being of patients and others in our care.

Examples of situations where visitation may be restricted include:

  • A court order limiting or prohibiting contact.
  • Behavior that may pose a safety risk to a patient, family member, visitor, or care team member.
  • Behavior that disrupts patient care or the healing environment.
  • Limits on the number of visitors in a room at one time.
  • Concerns about infection risks for patients or visitors.
  • Additional precautions during a pandemic or infectious disease outbreak.
  • Treatment programs that require restricted visitation, such as certain substance use disorder services.
  • A patient’s need for rest, recovery, or privacy.
  • The privacy and comfort needs of other patients sharing a room.

We ask all visitors to help us maintain a respectful, safe, and healing environment. Please review our Patient, Family, and Visitor Code of Conduct (PDF) before your visit.

If you have questions about visitation policies or restrictions, please speak with your nurse or doctor. Our care team will be happy to explain any guidelines that may apply during your stay.
