Adult Partial Hospital General Track

The general track is the primary program pathway for most individuals seeking a partial hospital level of support. It includes daily group and individual therapy, medication management, and comprehensive care coordination.

This track is 100% virtual, allowing access to short-term intensive mental health care across Rhode Island and Massachusetts.

Core Features of the General Track

The general track emphasizes acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), an evidence-based approach to mental health care. ACT addresses common mental and behavioral patterns that people universally struggle with such as avoidance of pain/discomfort, getting hooked by past or future thinking, and over-focus on external expectations and goals. The patterns targeted in ACT have been shown to underlie a wide range of mental health diagnoses and related concerns.  Through ACT, individuals learn practical skills to respond to and process difficult thoughts and emotions while also identifying and building on personal strengths and experiences. The goal is to help people feel more connected to their present lives, take meaningful, value-driven action, and reduce suffering in the face of pain.

We strive to foster curiosity, self-compassion, and a sense of possibility, even when life feels heavy. ACT uses creative metaphors and hands-on experiences to support learning in a lighter environment that encourages progress without pressure to get it perfect.

Areas of Focus
  • Being present: Staying focused on the here and now.
  • Opening to feelings and experiences: Making room for and managing difficult emotions.
  • Unhooking from thoughts: Noticing thoughts without getting overwhelmed by them.
  • Identifying what matters: Clarifying what is truly important to you.
  • Taking values-based action: Doing more of what brings purpose and meaning.
  • Cultivating self-acceptance: Practicing self-compassion and connecting with a sense of self.
  • Building flexibility: Adapting to life’s challenges while staying true to yourself.

This track also incorporates other third-wave treatments into group and individual care.
