Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) is a comprehensive, integrated, public health approach to the delivery of early intervention and treatment services. The Injury Prevention Center at Rhode Island Hospital has received funding from the U.S. Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) to provide SBIRT training to medical students participating in emergency medicine elective and emergency medicine residents.
