The Center for Behavioral and Preventive Medicine is offering The Resilience Series free to healthcare providers in any role or discipline. Spaces are limited and filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

This evidence-based telehealth series gives healthcare providers practical strategies to manage stress, reduce the impact of workplace strain, and cultivate emotional resilience in high-stress medical environments. You’ll learn actionable tools to support your well-being, engage in trauma-informed care, and navigate clinical demands with mindfulness and compassion.

Summary and Objectives

Led by licensed clinical psychologists and advanced psychology fellows, the workshop combines research-backed strategies with practical tools you can use every day to:

  • Strengthen emotional resilience and well-being

  • Integrate trauma-informed care principles into daily practice
  • Improve sleep and mindfulness to enhance clinical performance

What You Will Learn

The series is divided into interactive sessions:

Session 1: Coping with Vicarious Trauma / Provider Wellness

In the first session, you will learn:

  • To identify the signs of vicarious trauma and understand its impact on healthcare providers
  • Strategies to manage emotional responses to patient trauma and high-stress situations
  • Guided mindfulness and relaxation practices to integrate into daily routines
  • To cultivate emotional resilience and sustainable work-life balance

Session 2: Integrating Trauma-Informed Care into Clinical Practice

In the second session, you will learn:

  • To understand the core principles of trauma-informed care and relevance to patient interactions
  • To create a safe, supportive environment for patients
  • To promote a healing approach sensitive to trauma’s impact on patients’ health
  • To improve communication skills to foster trust, empowerment, and patient choice

Session 3: Strategies for Better Sleep

In the third session, you will:

  • Learn sleep hygiene practices tailored to shift workers and disrupted schedules
  • Explore the science of sleep and its impact on emotional well-being and clinical performance
  • Develop behavioral strategies to improve sleep quality and establish restorative routines
  • Incorporate relaxation techniques to unwind before sleep

Session 4: Mindful Caregiving

In the fourth session, you will:

  • Practice mindfulness techniques to reduce stress and deepen patient connections
  • Integrate mindfulness into busy clinical settings to enhance focus and emotional regulation
  • Develop strategies for mindful patient care that reduce provider stress while maintaining compassion
  • Foster a culture of mindfulness to support colleagues and workplace well-being
